Coverage Information:
There are two types of renters insurance coverage, actual value and
replacement value. Actual value coverage pays the cash
value of your property. Often, this results in the coverage paying less
than the amount of a new item such as furniture. Replacement
value is what you would get if you were to buy the item new today
regardless of the value of the item. This also could result in less than
what was lost if the item has gone down in value or has been replaced by
a less expensive newer items such as electronics.
Condominium Insurance and Renters Insurance Coverage
Our insurance coverage was designed to make sure condo owners and
renters are prepared and protected, no matter what. These coverage
definitions should help you understand how Condominium Insurance or
Renter’s Insurance can protect you and your belongings.
Not all coverages are available in all states.
Personal Property - Coverage C
This condominium and renter’s insurance coverage protects your personal
belongings, such as furniture, clothing and appliances. Most policies
provide a limit of liability equal to 50% to 70% of the Dwelling
Coverage amount. Certain possessions may be excluded or have only
limited coverage. Your condominium insurance representative can tell you
more about additional coverages you can purchase to provide enhanced
protection for valuable items and other special possessions.
Loss of Use - Coverage D
This renter’s and condominium insurance coverage is available when you
cannot live in your condo or rental due to a covered loss. It pays
reasonable and customary living expenses up to the limit provided in
your insurance policy.
Loss of Use - Coverage E
This coverage protects you in two ways. First, it provides for your
legal defense against a liability claim (lawsuit). Second, it will pay
any court judgments for covered losses against you, up to the policy
limit.
Medical Payments - Coverage F
This condominium and renter’s insurance coverage pays emergency medical
bills for anyone injured on your property or any injury caused by a
member of your family or a pet regardless of where it happens. All bills
are paid, up to your condo or renter’s insurance policy limit, whether
or not you're legally responsible.
Condominium insurance and personal property renter’s insurance policies
have special coverages provided to accommodate each unique situation.
